The Manual
Every company in the library, in one fixed format, in strict alphabetical order by ticker. Three volumes, 3,828 entries.
The form is borrowed from the Moody's manuals Buffett read page by page: turn every page and the obscure entry gets found, because every entry gets turned to. Each entry is the same four lines — what it is, the owner-earnings record, the retained-capital arithmetic, and the balance sheet and stewardship facts. Nothing is ranked and nothing is scored; the reader brings the two things no entry carries, understanding of the business and a price.
From the latest filings · data as of July 9, 2026.
-
SEC filers, from their 10-K filings.
-
Foreign filers on US exchanges, from their 20-F filings; figures as filed, in each company's home currency.
-
EDINET filers, from their annual securities reports; figures as filed, in yen.
A reading surface, not a screen: the entries are in ticker order and nothing else, every figure is read from the company's own filings the same way its page computes it, and a record that could not be read renders "not read" rather than disappearing. Start at the A's, or anywhere.
